Longwood Gardens Bridge Renovations

Construction took place during the summer of 2019 on the arch bridge over Route 1 for Longwood Gardens. Work consisted of spall repairs to the concrete arch barrel and deck above, ringstone adjustments on both façades, repointing masonry on façades and parapets, replacement of masonry slopewalls, and roadway repairs on both bridge approaches. We coordinated planning with Longwood Garden’s events staff and local businesses to minimize traffic impacts during the busy season. The bridge is one of the few privately owned bridges within PennDOT right of way and acts as a main access to the gardens from Route 1.
